No more dog walking... and a business that finally feels right!

Client Profile…

Name:
Sian Lawley Rudd

Role:
Dog Trainer

Business:
Lavender Garden Animal Services

Context

When Sian first reached out, she was in a difficult position: the business she’d built had gradually become something she no longer felt happy with. Having followed advice from various business coaches prior to working with me, she’d ended up racing down a path that then ‘trapped’ her with services she didn’t want to offer, disproportionate expenses (including paying for ads management) and a sense that she’d lost control of her business.

Instead of feeling clear, purposeful and excited about where things were heading, she felt like her business had become ‘a bit of a monster’ (yes, those were her words!).

What she needed most was clarity... clarity about what she actually wanted from the business, what needed to change and how to get things back on track in a way that felt sustainable, aligned and worthwhile. At the time, Sian was offering dog walking alongside her training work. She wanted the business to feel more focused, more profitable and to be able to stop the dog walking service, to focus on training.

She didn’t just need more ideas or being told to follow another guru’s ‘success formula’.. she needed a proper (and personalised) plan.

Working together

Sian signed up for support through my 1:1 coaching programme, Unleash Your Potential, designed to help self-employed dog trainers and behaviourists create businesses that are not only successful, but actually feel good to run.

Right from the start, it was clear that Sian was thoughtful, determined and more than capable of making big changes... she just needed the right support to help her cut through the noise and move forward with confidence.

Together, we worked on getting clear about the direction of the business and what Sian really wanted it to look like. That meant refining the bigger picture first.

From there, we focused on making strategic improvements that would strengthen the business as a whole, including:

  • getting clear on her ideal clients

  • refining the direction of her services

  • reducing unnecessary expenses to improve profitability

  • improving her website design, layout and user experience

  • strengthening her website SEO so she could be found more easily by the right people

Through our 1:1 calls and ongoing Voxer support, we put a plan in place that Sian could implement step by step. And, to her credit, she really did implement it. Sian brought real commitment to the process and kept going, even when it wasn’t easy.

That combination of clarity, strategy and action created a huge shift... both in how the business looked from the outside and how it felt to run from the inside.

Outcome

Since making these changes, Sian has seen a significant improvement in visibility, profitability and bookings.

Her website’s organic SEO is now sitting right at the top and third from top for her two biggest search terms, with increased traffic to match. Her Google Business Profile is also in the top three results for those same terms... exactly the kind of visibility that can make a real difference for a local service-based business.

Even better, that visibility has translated into bookings.

Since working together, Sian shared that her puppy classes are now consistently full and her 1:1 packages are booked three months in advance. This has led to more consistent revenue in the business and has allowed her to invest further in its growth.

Just as importantly, she now has the clarity she was missing before. Instead of feeling stuck in a business that no longer felt right, she knows where she’s going and what she wants from it... and that’s changed everything for the better.

Here’s what Sian said about the experience:

“I’d set up a business I was unhappy with and felt I needed guidance on getting to a place with my business where I was happy again.

Before working with Gretta, I was struggling most with having clarity on what I wanted to do with the business as it had turned into a bit of a monster. I now have clarity on where I’m going and what I want from the business. It’s completely changed, for the better!

Since working with Gretta, I’ve saved money on unnecessary expenses, hugely improved my website and SEO, my puppy classes are now filled consistently and my 1:1 packages are fully booked 3 months in advance.”

Sian was brilliant to work with... open, committed and determined to make meaningful change. Her story is such a good example of what can happen when you stop trying to wrestle with a business that no longer fits and start shaping one that actually works for you.
